Decarbonised Energy Systems

This area focuses on the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, and integrating new technologies to achieve the targets of the Paris Agreement. It includes research on electrified mobility, such as the management and optimisation of charging networks, the development of wireless and high-power charging solutions, the integration of autonomous vehicles, fleet management, and the electrification of heavy goods transport. It also covers electrified living through industrial solutions like district heating and cooling, energy management systems for homes and industry, green hydrogen production and integration, and integrated energy grid planning. These research efforts are supported by digitalisation technologies including IoT, cloud computing, digital twins, and AI.
