What the fellowship offers

Supervision, Training and Career Development Expectations

SE4S is not only a research grant — it is a career development programme. Before you begin writing, make sure you understand that: 

  • You will have both an academic supervisor and an industry mentor. 
  • A Career Development Plan (CDP) will be created at the start of the fellowship and updated annually. 
  • Participation in transversal skills training (e.g. project management, communication, open science, leadership) is expected. 
  • The programme supports multi‑sector exposure and aims to accelerate your long‑term career trajectory. 

Your application should reflect awareness of these expectations. 

Employment and Financial Conditions

The fellows selected will be offered an employment contract at the implementing partner of their choice, including statutory working practices, social security coverage and social benefits, complying (minimum requirement) with national legal requirements. Fellows will be paid by the corresponding implementing partners in accordance with their employment contract. The programme ensures competitiveness and attractiveness in the academic labour market. Each fellow will receive an allowance to cover expenses associated to research and training costs (including travel costs). This amount can be used to cover expenses related to attending conferences and seminars, secondments, required equipment (such as consumables, materials or small equipment’s laboratory supplies, and any other expenses that can be directly linked to the research or the fellow Career Development Plan)
