Purpose and key elements

The programme

SE4S is an MSCA COFUND initiative designed to support the next generation of researchers working on the transition to a sustainable energy future. The programme aims to:

  • Foster international, interdisciplinary and intersectoral research. 
  • Provide a high-quality training environment that combines academic excellence with industrial relevance. 
  • Create real impact in three strategic areas: 
    • Decarbonised Energy Systems 
    • Biodiversity & Ecosystems Quality 
    • Circular Economy 



Your project idea should be conceived with these programmatic aims in mind. 

Project structure

Before you start drafting, ensure that you clearly understand how the fellowship will unfold: 

  • 16 open positions 
  • 1 call 
  • 36-month full-time employment contract at one of the implementing partner institutions. 
  • Optional 3-month academic secondment at a partner university or research centre. 
  • Compulsory 3–6-month industrial secondment within the Iberdrola Group. 
  • Continuous participation in SE4S training activities, workshops, and networking events. 
  • A strong emphasis on Open Science, innovation, and responsible research practices. 

Your proposal should be realistic and aligned with this structure.
