Circular Economy

This area promotes resource efficiency and waste reduction, especially in the electricity sector. Research covers the development of new technologies for recycling materials such as wind turbine blades, solar panels, and batteries, as well as the creation of sustainable business models and circular value chains. It also includes the implementation of digital passports for tracking the lifecycle of materials and initiatives to improve energy efficiency and reduce waste and CO2 emissions. This research is supported by recycling technologies, eco-design standards, digital passports, and energy efficiency strategies. UPM, through its Escuela Técnica Superior focuses on areas like circular waste management and zero-carbon design, showing a drive to unify resource recovery and sustainable engineering.
